Insights on University Trust and Institutional Credibility

03 April, 2025

The Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at L'Aquila University and member of the Quality Assurance Board, Giuseppe Celenza, shared important thoughts on trust for universities:

"Building the trust of stakeholders is not just good practice, but a necessity for the survival of a higher education institution."

In recent years, public trust in higher education has alarmingly dropped from 60% to 36%.

Why is stakeholder trust important?

  • Strengthens trust in the university through quality and transparent management
  • Directly influences the improvement of student and teacher outcomes
  • Creates strong relationships with students, teachers, graduates, and partners
  • Enhances reputation, enabling attraction of top students and professors

Universities that will succeed in the near future will be those that prioritize trustworthiness, transparency, and human connections starting today.
